President Trump says he's giving TikTok another 75 days to find a US buyer
Briefly

President Trump extended TikTok's operations in the U.S. for 75 days to negotiate a deal for American ownership, as Congress mandated divestment due to national security concerns. While ByteDance, TikTok's owner, insists the app is not for sale, several U.S. companies including Amazon, Oracle, and Walmart have expressed interest in purchasing the platform. Trump highlighted the administration's progress in negotiations and emphasized the need for more work to finalize the deal, amidst assertions of user safety from TikTok and denial of data collection demands from the Chinese government.
My Administration has been working very hard on a Deal to SAVE TIKTOK, and we have made tremendous progress. The Deal requires more work to ensure all necessary approvals are signed, which is why I am signing an Executive Order to keep TikTok up and running for an additional 75 days.
China's Foreign Ministry has said China's government has never and will not ask companies to collect or provide data, information or intelligence held in foreign countries.
Potential buyers of the app include Amazon. The company sent a letter to the Trump administration to join the bidding war for TikTok.
