Air ambulance boss urges flights despite grounding
Briefly

The Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance (LNAA) has been grounded due to a missed deadline to renew its license for carrying controlled drugs. CEO Karen Jobling insists the air ambulance should still operate with only non-controlled drugs while awaiting license approval. The East Midlands Ambulance Service identified increased risks to patient safety without access to controlled drugs, prompting the grounding. An internal investigation is underway regarding the administrative mishap, which Jobling remarked is regrettable but not uncommon.
We truly believe we can still operate in a different operating model but we can still be at the side of patients while we wait for the licence from the Home Office.
Based on national clinical advice and best practice, we have identified a higher risk to patient safety is present without LNAA's supply of appropriate controlled drugs.
