Woman hospitalized after being shot on the Palmetto Expressway

On Tuesday night, a woman was shot in the chest while riding as a passenger in a car navigating the Palmetto Expressway near NW 47th Avenue. The incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. when an unidentified individual in a black Chevy Malibu, possibly equipped with a blue fog light, opened fire on a white Hyundai sedan. The injured woman was quickly transported to Ryder Trauma Center where she is expected to recover. In response, eastbound State Road 826 was closed for two hours to facilitate the investigation, with FHP urging witnesses to provide information.
