Heat star to miss game vs. Thunder with toe, rib injuries
"Herro has been battling a nagging toe injury for much of the last two months. He returned from an 11-game absence with the toe injury, but it appears to have flared up once again. The rib injury, however, is new. According to the Miami Herald's Anthony Chiang, Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra revealed that it shouldn't be a "long-term" absence."
"Herro, who turns 26-years-old on Tuesday, has played in just 11 games this season. He is averaging 21.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game, shooting 49.7 percent from the floor and 35.8 percent from 3-point range. Outside of his playmaking - which has dropped precipitously in this new offense - Herro's offense has largely been a plus. However, it will be impossible for him - and the team - to develop any sort of rhythm with these ongoing absences."
Tyler Herro will miss the Miami Heat's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder due to toe and rib injuries, announced roughly two hours before tip-off. The toe has been a nagging issue for about two months and flared after Herro returned from an 11-game absence; the rib injury is new. Head coach Erik Spoelstra said the rib injury should not be long-term and the team will continue treatment and monitor his response. Herro has played 11 games this season, averaging 21.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists while shooting 49.7% overall and 35.8% from three. Ongoing absences have disrupted his playmaking and the team's rhythm.
