Tyler Herro ranks second in Miami Heat history for 30-point games among guards, showcasing his offensive talent and development.
He evidently earned it, starting all of his 67 games in 2022-23, putting together similar numbers on slightly less usage before suffering a season-ending hand injury in the postseason. He battled injury again in 2023-24, where he was sidelined for 40 games, before parlaying his growth as a shotmaker into the best season of his career last year. Herro averaged 23.9 points on 60.5 percent true shooting, being named a first-time All-Star.
The Miami Heat should follow their Jimmy Butler blueprint with Tyler Herro. They should not pay him until he proves he can remain healthy. Because right now, Herro can't seem to shake the injury bug. And it's not just this season, though this year has been bad. Herro has only played six games this season and is set to miss another game against the New York Knicks on Sunday night.
