Marlins To Select Heriberto Hernandez
Briefly

The Miami Marlins are preparing to promote outfielder Heriberto Hernandez from Triple-A Jacksonville to make his MLB debut. To accommodate this roster addition on a full 40-man roster, the team might transfer reliever Declan Cronin from the 15-day Injured List to the 60-day IL. Hernandez, who was initially signed by the Rangers, has had a mixed minor league season but has shown power potential, although his hit tool remains questionable. He has a high strikeout rate and is limited defensively to outfield corners.
"Hernandez, 25, will be making his MLB debut the first time he gets into a game. The former catcher was originally signed by the Rangers as an amateur out of the Dominican Republic."
"He’s hitting .220/.319/.454 on the season (109 wRC+), though he enjoyed a torrid 11-game stretch in the middle of this month before falling into a hitless slump over his past four contests."
