I Spent a Year Living in My Van. It Did Not Go as Planned.
Briefly

Living in a van for a year transformed the perception of comfort and discomfort. The journey created a yoga of inconvenience, requiring resilience and acceptance without the usual conveniences. This nomadic lifestyle illuminated the importance of simply being present and responding to each moment, often in isolation and need. Journaling by the ocean became a practice of reflection, highlighting the shift from a structured yoga regimen to experiencing life as it unfolds. The lessons learned emphasized the understanding of discomfort and surrender within the uncertainties of van life.
Yoga teaches us how to be with what is. And out there, with no Wi-Fi and no real sense of control, there was nothing but what is.
The yoga of inconvenience, of surrender, of living in the unknown manifested less on a mat and more in quiet moments of resilience.
We were often uncomfortable, isolated from others, and needing to do without. I was totally unprepared for the experience of full-time nomadic living.
I learned to experience discomfort, which had previously triggered my already revved-up nervous system into overdrive.
