Draganfly, a Canadian drone manufacturer, has received FAA approval for a waiver to operate drones over people and moving vehicles in Boston. This milestone opens avenues for advancements in medical logistics and public safety. The company has already begun testing with Mass General Brigham for drone deliveries of medical supplies to patients receiving homecare, which was announced in early 2024. The initial tests demonstrated the potential for minimizing delays in critical healthcare logistics, emphasizing the future role of drones in everyday life, especially in emergencies and healthcare solutions.
"As we continue to lead the way in UAV technology, this achievement underscores our vision of a future where drones seamlessly integrate into our daily lives, enhancing safety, efficiency, and innovation," CEO Cameron Chell said in a video announcing the waiver.
Draganfly has already dipped a toe into Boston's airspace, teaming up with Mass General Brigham on a futuristic medical drone delivery pilot, which explores delivering medical equipment and supplies.
