Amazon drops $500M on X-energy's SMRs
Briefly

Amazon is engaging with nuclear energy to mitigate data center energy scarcity, signing on to develop small modular reactors (SMRs) to support its operations expansion.
'Nuclear is a safe source of carbon-free energy that can help power our operations and meet the growing demands of our customers,' AWS CEO Matt Garman stated.
By investing in X-energy's technology, Amazon aims to bring over 5 gigawatts of small modular reactors online in the US by 2039.
'Our agreements will encourage the construction of new nuclear technologies that will generate energy for decades to come,' said Garman, highlighting the long-term vision.
