Under the terms of the settlement, Amazon will pay a penalty of $145,000 and must implement corporate-wide ergonomic measures to reduce the risk of worker injuries.
A rep from the Department of Labor stated that this settlement is the largest of its kind and will resolve all outstanding ergonomic litigation against Amazon.
The settlement will not impact a separate investigation into Amazon allegedly concealing workplace injuries that is currently underway at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York.
Teamsters General President Sean M. O'Brien said, "If your package is delayed during the holidays, you can blame Amazon's insatiable greed."
