Barclays has announced that its recent technical issues impacting payments and transactions for its customers have been resolved after three days of disruption. The outage, which began on Friday, led to problems making essential payments, particularly affecting those with self-assessment tax returns due that day. Over 5,000 issues were reported, and Barclays stated that it is working on updating customer balances and addressing outstanding problems. The bank confirmed there was no cyber attack involved and committed to ensuring no customers are financially disadvantaged due to the disruptions.
"We are very sorry for any disruption and will ensure that no impacted customer is left out of pocket," a Barclays spokesperson said on Sunday.
The technical issues were not caused by a cyber attack, it is understood, but the bank has not explained what was behind the problem.
