Thoughtful touches include a collection of 19th-century fashion prints, unearthed by Mariani in an old London bookshop, which were hung gallery-style on the dressing-room wardrobes. 'We designed the frames based on something I saw at a Sicilian auction,' adds Heuman. While wallpaper is used sparingly on the lower floors, it is celebrated wholeheartedly in the sloped-ceiling children's bedrooms.
'It felt right to lean into the charm of an attic-like room,' she says. 'This was a place where it was quite fun.' For the client, the realization of the family's forever home has been life-changing.
'I was really impressed with how Beata and Fosca were able to cater to our needs. It was almost telepathic,' she says. 'Every day I notice things that remind me of just how lucky we are.'
