In a recent interview, Bluesky CEO Jay Graber mistakenly stated the age limit for users is 18 when it is actually 13. This error highlights potential concerns about age verification practices and user safety on rapidly growing social media platforms.
Ms. Graber noted, 'We don't take IDs or anything like that. I know that's proposed in some places. That's very private information,' further emphasizing Bluesky's commitment to user data privacy.
Graber explained the platform's growth, attributing it to a better user experience, stating, 'There's not harassment and bots and spam and a lot of the other problems that plague other platforms.'
Following a clarification after the interview, Bluesky stated that while there is no strict age verification, they do ask users for their date of birth and have features for child safety.
