Buttermilk Channel, a cherished restaurant in Carroll Gardens, is closing after 16 years due to owner Doug Crowell's need to focus on other projects.
Crowell states, "Our relationships with our customers are really deep. I mean, their children grew up eating here," emphasizing the restaurant's community ties.
The restaurant's closure is deeply felt by regulars, as expressed by Park Slope resident Matt Polevoy: "It's heartbreaking to see a place we loved shut its doors."
Crowell reflects personal investment, saying, "I can’t put it on cruise control or give it to other people. I have my eyes and hands on every detail."
