Carupa House High Mountain Refuge / Bermudez Arquitectos
Briefly

Casa Carupa is a prefabricated mountain shelter designed for the sub-paramo climate, where temperatures can vary widely. The structure uses a dry assembly method to minimize environmental impact and facilitates easy transportation and construction. It features modular design principles, enabling expansion over time. Each module is strategically designed to encapsulate living functions—sleeping, cooking, socializing—while maintaining thermal comfort through an energy-efficient envelope with strategic window placements. The architecture emphasizes harmony with the stunning natural landscapes of the Andes, intending to preserve the site's ecological conditions.
The design of Casa Carupa is tailored for a unique climate, maximizing thermal comfort while preserving natural surroundings through the use of modular and prefabricated components.
Modularity in construction allows Casa Carupa to grow organically over time, enhancing its functionality without compromising the structural integrity of the design.
