CenturyLink, now known as Lumen, has been criticized for its ongoing issues with service outages and missed repair appointments. Desperate customers have repeatedly turned to media outlets for help, often resulting in swift action from the company. Recent reports highlighted individual cases from Boulder, Colorado, and other states, where customers experienced outages ranging from three weeks to over four months. Despite customers paying for service, there is a troubling pattern of negligence, with CenturyLink failing to address issues until given media attention.
In early December, we heard from John in Boulder, Colorado, who preferred that we not publish his last name. John said he and his wife had been without CenturyLink phone and DSL Internet service for over three weeks.
We also published an August 2023 article about CenturyLink leaving an 86-year-old woman in Minnesota with no Internet service for a month and a May 2024 article about CenturyLink leaving a couple in Oregon with no service for two months, then billing them for $239.
