An adult male tourist in his 40s was allegedly kicked in the head during an assault in Temple Bar Square shortly before 1am. Emergency services found him with serious injuries and he was rushed to hospital, later transferred to Beaumont Hospital for emergency overnight surgery. He is receiving treatment for head injuries and had been visiting Dublin with a family member. Gardaí believe a verbal altercation with an unknown male escalated into the assault. No arrests have been made; detectives at Pearse Street station are reviewing good-quality CCTV to identify the suspect and are appealing for witnesses.
