The expansion will allow Stansted Airport to serve up to 43 million passengers a year, creating 5,000 new on-site jobs and doubling its economic contribution to £2 billion annually.
Gareth Powell, managing director of London Stansted, stated that the airport aims to offer more choice of airlines and an extensive route network valued by millions of passengers each year.
Powell emphasized that Stansted operates a single terminal, which allows for a simple, efficient, and seamless experience, enhancing passenger satisfaction while expanding the airport's facilities.
The terminal development will feature a bright and spacious environment, with more seating, new shops, bars, and restaurants, reflecting Stansted's commitment to improving passenger experience.
