This update means users no longer need to restart discussions or search for previous threads, enabling them to build on ongoing projects. The feature is designed for user comfort, with options to review, delete, or manage chat history retention. Launching first for English Gemini Advanced subscribers, the memory function aims to provide a smarter interaction as part of a broader agentic AI initiative by companies like Google and OpenAI.
"That means no more starting over from scratch or having to search for a previous conversation thread," Google explains.
"Plus, you can build on top of previous conversations or projects you've already started."
