Inside a Cutting-Edge New Mosque in Qatar
Briefly

The Al-Mujadilah Center and Mosque for Women in Doha, designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro, represents a pioneering space exclusively for women in the Islamic world. Founded by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, the center blends traditional elements with modern architecture, creating an environment for learning and worship. Its unique design includes mechanized speakers for the call to prayer, illustrating a harmonious integration of technology and spirituality. This initiative aims to empower Muslim women and challenges contemporary issues through educational dialogue rooted in Islamic knowledge.
Every morning in Doha, just before dawn, a cluster of mechanized speakers rise... At top, the audio equipment plays a live or recorded call to prayer.
I founded Al-Mujadilah to nurture the next generation of Muslim women to seek the answers to contemporary challenges from within the vast knowledge contained in our religion.
