"While notably less anxious than the tone of consumer sentiment a year ago, the November survey suggests that continuing risks and cost strains mean that Irish consumers remain in a 'watch, wait and worry' mode," Mr Hughes said.
"Consumers in this country had hit a pause button in terms of their assessment of their economic and financial circumstances due to a combination of the unfolding US election result, the upcoming general election in Ireland and increasing uncertainty about what the future may hold."
