"The 38-year-old died after suffering a stab injury to his chest during an altercation at a property in Hollyhill on Cork's northside in the early hours of Sunday morning. Gardaí and paramedics were called to a property at Hollyville shortly after 4am after being alerted that a male had been seriously injured. A man was discovered at the property bleeding profusely from an apparent stab wound."
"The man can be held for up to 24 hours though this period can be extended to allow the man avail of medical, rest and food breaks. Gardaí are now conducting door to door inquiries in the area to determine if anyone heard or saw anything suspicious in the early hours of Sunday morning. The scene has been sealed off. A full forensic and technical examination of the scene is also being conducted."
A 38-year-old man sustained a stab injury to his chest during an altercation at a property in Hollyhill on Cork's northside and died after being rushed to Cork University Hospital. Gardaí and paramedics responded shortly after 4am and found the man bleeding profusely. A man in his 50s was arrested at the scene and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 for questioning. The Office of the State Pathologist has been notified and a full post mortem will be conducted at CUH. Gardaí have sealed the scene, begun door-to-door inquiries, are conducting forensic examinations, and are reviewing CCTV and dashcam footage while liaising with the family.
