Meet the east Londoner juggling being a powerlifter while doing an apprenticeship
Briefly

Beatriz Santos, 26, has excelled in balancing her role as a recruitment coordinator for Family Action while pursuing a people professional apprenticeship through Realise. Additionally, she is a competitive powerlifter who recently competed in the British Open Classic Powerlifting Championships. Beatriz emphasizes the challenges of managing her multiple commitments, especially after facing health difficulties. Supportive tutors have played a crucial role in her journey, facilitating her learning about HR and volunteer collaboration, which contributes to her aspirations for a successful career in the field.
It takes a lot of grit, determination and discipline, but I love it. It all started when I was sick in hospital for a long time.
My Realise tutors have been very understanding and supportive about my other commitments and personal circumstances, allowing me to take a break from my apprenticeship.
It has been a very useful thing to do and I've been able to learn about things I'm not currently involved in, such as understanding how people are paid.
I will keep pushing to make that come true. The world championships has always been my dream.
