Meta's CEO Mark Zuckerberg expressed frustrations over leaking information in a company-wide meeting, suggesting a shift towards less transparency. In response, Meta's Chief Information Security Officer, Guy Rosen, emphasized the company's commitment to addressing leaks with strict measures, including termination. This commitment stems from the negative impact leaks have on team morale and productivity. Meanwhile, CTO Andrew Bosworth acknowledged the employee backlash regarding the change and reflected on the necessity of this decision.
We take leaks seriously and will take action. When information is stolen or leaked, there are repercussions beyond the immediate security impact. Our teams become demoralized and we all waste time that is better spent working on our products and toward our goals and mission.
We try to be really open and then everything I say leaks. It sucks.
If we identify leakers, we will take appropriate action, including termination.
I saw all the angry/sad reaccs about the change to the format and I share a sense of loss about it, but I think this makes it clear it was the right call.
