Ashley, a TikTok creator, shared a serious parenting mistake she made involving her baby daughter. While preparing food, she placed her daughter in a sit-me-up seat on the kitchen island, turning her attention away briefly. In just seconds, the baby fell and later suffered a grand mal seizure. Although relieved she wasn't seriously hurt at first, Ashley's fear escalated as she realized her daughter wasn't breathing and needed CPR. She shared this experience to help other parents feel less alone and to highlight the importance of vigilance.
It can be really hard to admit a mistake as a mom, especially a serious or dangerous one. Everyone makes them from time to time.
I just want to help one person, if I can, she says.
I would put her on my [kitchen] island and I would prepare food right next to her, just so she could see me. It was really convenient and easy.
When the seizure stopped, Ashley was horrified to discover that her daughter was not breathing.
