The Natural History Museum will unveil a newly refurbished gallery in April 2025, highlighting efforts to mitigate climate change and environmental degradation. This restoration, part of preparations for the museum's 150th anniversary, will feature 250 natural specimens, enriching the visitor experience with previously unseen items. The gallery, formerly the Hall of Human Biology, has undergone significant renovations with funding from the Public Bodies Infrastructure Fund. Museum Director Dr. Doug Gurr emphasizes the gallery's role in empowering visitors to take action for the planet, integrating science and advocacy efforts in its design.
The revamped Fixing Our Broken Planet gallery will open on Thursday 3rd April 2025 and will be free to visit.
Our scientists have been working to find solutions for and from nature. Fixing Our Broken Planet places this research at the heart of the Museum.
