Sir Jim Ratcliffe hit with legal action over latest INEOS cost-cutting measure
Briefly

New Zealand Rugby (NZR) has filed legal proceedings against INEOS for allegedly breaching their six-year sponsorship agreement after INEOS missed a crucial payment due in 2025 and expressed intentions to withdraw earlier than planned. NZR emphasizes the importance of protecting its interests and the integrity of the sport. In response, INEOS cites financial strains due to severe economic conditions impacting their European operations but insists they value their sponsorship, having invested significant funds previously. They also state that they are open to discussions with NZR, which they believe could lead to an amicable solution.

Rather than working towards a managed solution, New Zealand Rugby have chosen to pursue legal action against their sponsor.
