OSHA reported that the man fell 7 feet onto a concrete floor after stepping out of the basket of the vehicle to cut plastic straps, having died from head trauma.
Target was fined a total of $176,000 following the incident, with specific violations including not ensuring that exit routes were unobstructed and not providing adequate fall protection.
The fire department confirmed that the audible alarm on the vehicle was disengaged at the time of the accident, highlighting negligence in safety protocols at the facility.
