Not everything you'll find on our list is exclusive to Target. In fact, none of Target's own Good & Gather brand of frozen items made the top of our list since they're mainly all just okay in comparison to other available options. However, items from both Good & Gather and Target's Favorite Day brand are included among items you should skip.

Much of the front half of the year for Target was defined by the company's decision in January to pull back on some diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives as the Trump administration took power. That led Black-owned brands and employees to question Target's commitment to the progressive values that once defined its brand. In May, Target's CEO finally addressed the topic, somewhat, saying its values of inclusivity, connection and drive "are not up for debate."

"Target is a place that you go to hang out, to walk around with your family," she said.

Target's app and website are experiencing major issues, according to Downdector.

Here's what the big box retailer reported for its Q3 2025: Net sales: $25.3 billion (down 1.4% from the same period in 2024) Adjusted earnings per share (EPS): $1.78 (down from $1.85 in the same period in 2024) Operating income: $948 million (down 18.9%) Net earnings: $689 million (down 19.3%) To put those first two all-important metrics into perspective, net sales came in below what analysts were expecting, but the company's adjusted earnings per share came in slightly above.

Prong one: new items. Target is debuting more than 20,000 new items for holiday shoppers, many priced at $5 and most priced under $20. In a news release, the chain announced that is selling twice as many holiday items as last year, and more than half of those are Target exclusives. Among the items for sale this year, the store highlighted pop-culture collaborations (Stranger Things, Wicked: For Good), as well as fashion, beauty gifts, Wondershop brand holiday decor and hundreds of exclusive toys.

Target ( NYSE: TGT) has been in a steady downtrend thanks to economic uncertainty, supply chain issues, and a series of controversial political issues. However, despite the pullback, the retailer continues to hike its dividends. With the streak now at 54 years, Target is a Dividend King, with a yield of 5%. The company's next dividend of $1.14 per share was paid on September 1, marking its 232nd increase.

Departing CEO Brian Cornell will become the Executive Chairman. That means he will continue to run Target, at least in part. That is not much of a punishment given the failure of his tenure. Michael Fiddelke, who has been both COO and CFO, will become the new chief executive. Given his previous jobs, he contributed almost as much to Target's failure at Cornell.
