"I don't want to retire at all," she said during an interview last year. "I have a passion for what I do and I love teaching. I mean, I've got wonderful health... I'm really lucky."
Mary is back on the box this week with a brand-new series in which she meets up with a few famous friends - including her former GBBO colleague Sue Perkins, as well as Claudia Winkleman, Hamza Yassin, Sara Davies and Will Kirk - who each face their own challenges when it comes to the main meal of their day.
However, the first episode features Alan Carr, who loves home-cooked comfort food, but doesn't know where to start making it. Mary arrives at his house to teach him some delicious recipes, including decadent Parma ham and cauliflower cheese parcels.
Later, Alan shows Mary his family photo album and tells her all about his mum's hearty meals. Then, at the end of a fun day together, Alan has a surprise of his own - a special thank-you cocktail on the rooftop terrace.
