Santacroce Nursery and Garden Center in Staten Island has launched its seasonal plant offerings, showcasing an array of flowers, herbs, and aquatic plants. Located at Richmond Ave., the nursery provides plants ideally suited for local gardeners, especially around Mother's Day, which signals the start of planting season for vegetables and fruits. Founded by Rocco Santacroce Sr. in 1960 and now run by his son, Rocco Jr., the nursery continues a family legacy of horticulture, supplying plants for both retail and local families' culinary needs, ensuring a personal touch in their products.
Mother's Day is traditionally a New Yorker's cue to plant veggies and fruiting plants. And that's when Santacroce debuts its massive greenhouse goodies - carrots, onions, tomatoes and more.
The nursery takes its name from the Santacroce family. Its founder, Rocco Santacroce Sr., began his journey in the agricultural realm at 11 working on a North Shore farm.
