The Times Square Red Lobster at 5 Times Square will shut permanently on June 14 after 23 years of operation. The three-story location opened in 2003 and spans 16,482 square feet. Prolonged construction at 41st Street and Seventh Avenue reduced access, visibility, and foot traffic, and the property is planned for residential conversion. In 2024, the property owners sought about $2.2 million in annual rent, while employees were told the site was high-performing and not slated for closure. Employees will be offered transfers to other Red Lobster locations, and the Times Square site was the chain’s only remaining NYC location across all five boroughs.
"The restaurant, located at 5 Times Square, will permanently shut its doors on June 14 after serving customers for 23 years. The prolonged construction work on the corner of 41st Street and Seventh Avenue, combined with plans to convert the property into residential housing, made it impossible to continue operating the location, restaurant officials told theNew York Post."
