Briefly

Philadelphia's 30th Street Station has seen a spike in long-distance commuting since the COVID-19 pandemic, with a notable 28% increase in Philadelphians traveling more than 75 miles for work. This trend mirrors a nationwide rise, indicating a growing preference for cost-effective living while maintaining job opportunities in bigger cities like New York. Commuters use various transportation options, including Amtrak, NJTransit, and SEPTA, demonstrating flexibility in adapting to a hybrid work schedule while balancing expenses.

According to a Stanford University study, since the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of Philadelphians traveling more than 75 miles for work has increased 28%.
