NY prison officials warn striking correction officers to get back to work or face termination in last-ditch attempt to stop wildcat action
Briefly

New York state officials are taking a hard stance against prison guards who have participated in an illegal wildcat strike by issuing termination notices. This strike, initiated over unsafe working conditions, has affected over 30 prisons since February 17. Although a new deal was brokered with the guards' union last week, it remains to be seen if the striking guards will accept it. The New York State Department of Corrections is enforcing strict measures, warning about health insurance loss for absentees, aiming for a swift return to normalcy.
Today we are forced to take action to enforce our laws and collective bargaining agreement. Terminations of Officers who have been AWOL for more than 11 consecutive shifts have begun.
The aggression is meant to ensure that all options are on the table to return to normal operations as soon as possible in light of the ongoing safety concerns.
