Hundreds of prison guards flood NY state capital as wildcat strike stretches into 16th day: 'Hold the line'
Briefly

Over 1,000 prison guards gathered in Albany for the 16th day of an unsanctioned strike against New York's prison system, demanding the repeal of the HALT Act, which restricts solitary confinement, and improved working conditions. The strike, which has seen the participation of 90% of guards, has led to the death of at least seven inmates. Governor Hochul has proposed a deal to suspend the act for 90 days, but guards must agree since the strike was not sanctioned by their union, and the state is threatening consequences for noncompliance.
They have threatened you with jail. They have threatened to take away your family's health insurance... You've got nothing left to do now, but hold the line.
The unsanctioned strike entered its 16th day... the protesters demanding Gov. Kathy Hochul repeal a law limiting the use of solitary confinement, as well as improve working conditions.
