Felipe Hoyos-Foronda, a 38-year-old who falsely claimed to be a doctor, was operating an unlicensed liposuction clinic in Queens. During a procedure to remove a woman's butt implants, he administered lidocaine improperly, leading to her cardiac arrest. After the incident, she was taken to a local hospital, where she was found to have no brain activity. Authorities later apprehended Hoyos-Foronda at JFK Airport as he attempted to flee. He faces serious charges, including second-degree assault and unauthorized practice of a profession.
The victim was rushed by FDNY EMS to Mount Sinai Queens hospital, where she was listed in critical condition. Meanwhile, Hoyos-Foronda got in his car and took off, sources said.
Police managed to track the license plate of Hoyos-Foronda's car to the Van Wyck Expressway - and Port Authority cops caught him at JFK Airport where he was getting ready to hop on a plane.
