On Sunday night, two police officers on Staten Island were injured when a gunman shot at them as he attempted to evade a traffic stop. The incident began around 7:30 p.m. when officers from the 121st Precinct tried to stop a Nissan SUV for having tinted windows. The driver fled the scene and opened fire, injuring the officers with debris from their shattered car windows. After losing control of his vehicle and crashing, the driver was apprehended with two firearms recovered. The injured officers are recovering, and charges against the driver are pending an investigation.
