Despite multiple calls from worried passengers, first responders faced challenges in reaching her as the train continued moving after she went into cardiac arrest. They eventually caught up with the train at the East 180th Street Station, several stops later, but the woman was pronounced dead after being taken to Montefiore Hospital. The medical examiner will determine her official cause of death, and police are investigating the incident further.
The 46-year-old straphanger was found unconscious seated on board a 5 train at the East 180th Street Station near Morris Park Avenue around 11:56 a.m.
Sources told The Post the woman went into cardiac arrest at the Simpson Street Station, leading first responders to head there, only to find the train had continued on with the critical passenger.
