"To demonstrate that you could build a luxury home using natural building techniques with fine craftsmanship," he said. "And it wouldn't look like a little hobbit home built by the homeowner himself or herself."
The house, Koko said in an email, is "symbiotic with its environment," with curved walls and a curved roof that mimics the hilly landscape.
Rousselle's vision - an "old continent" or "western" design that blended into the environment - was brought to fruition by Pennsylvania-based architect Sigi Koko of Down to Earth Design.
They cut some wild cherry, black walnut and black locust trees and used the wood for posts and beams throughout the house and flooring in the bedrooms.
