Renovation and Expansion of the Irura Town Hall / BARRU ARKITEKTURA SLP
Briefly

The Town Hall rehabilitation emphasizes a respectful dialogue with the existing structure, maintaining typical features while enhancing accessibility and expanding usable area by 50%.
A north-south communication axis is created inside the Town Hall, featuring an elevator located in the existing building and a staircase in the newly expanded area.
The designed expansion, with its polyhedral volumetry, distinctly contrasts the original building, asserting itself as a contemporary addition draped in vertical slats.
The design prioritizes light, with the elevator shaft acting as a light well, and the slatted exterior responding dynamically to light, creating warm textures throughout the day.
