How does NFL cutdown day work, and what does it mean for the Patriots?
Briefly

The Patriots already started the process of reducing their own roster on Monday. They had 89 players signed entering the week, and through a series of moves are now down to 75.
Since their preseason finale against the Washington Commanders on Sunday, the Patriots have parted ways with 14 players. This means that they need to make at least 22 more transactions before finalizing their initial 53-man squad.
Players with less than four years of experience will be placed on waivers and therefore available to any other team. Based on the 2024 draft order, clubs can put in an indefinite number of claims.
