The team said goodbye to big man Lacey James and first-round G League Draft choice JP Pegues, while Jared Rhoden opted to sign with EuroLeague squad Paris. The latter played in 26 games for Mississauga's squad last year, including 17 starts, and averaged 19.0 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.3 steals while shooting 50.7 per cent from the field, 39.3 per cent from distance (5.4 attempts), and 64.8 per cent from the line.

The Wizards have an abundance of young talent on the roster, and that was prior to the team's moves to bring in several other intriguing prospects such as Cam Whitmore and Malaki Branham this offseason. Not to mention the loaded rookie class headlined by No. 6 overall pick Tre Johnson and the veteran addition of CJ McCollum. All that to say, Washington had their hands full this offseason when it came to narrowing down their roster,

Many of the players cut Tuesday were subject to waivers, giving teams a chance to pick them up (along with the rest of their contract).

Corley, a third-round pick last year, was the most significant name, but he was taken by the old regime of Joe Douglas and Robert Saleh. Douglas even orchestrated a trade to move up to No. 65 in the draft for Corley, who is nicknamed "YAC King" for his Yards after the Catch. His reign in New York was short-lived as Corley appeared in just nine games as a rookie and caught three passes for 16 yards.

It's hardly ideal that Elliott was playing on Saturday, but if you're a veteran being asked to play serious snaps in a third preseason game, you might as well make flash plays. Elliott was a game-wrecker in the middle against the Chargers' second and third-string offensive lines. If he was on the roster bubble, he should have played his way off it Saturday.

With the Sparks entering their second week of training camp, tough decisions are coming as they must reduce their roster from 16 to at least 12 players.
