Eliot Wolf expressed cautious optimism about the New England Patriots' prospects for the upcoming season, citing a productive free agency and draft. The team fortified its offensive line and added skilled players around QB Drake Maye. The draft strategy included significant upgrades on defense, notably acquiring safety Craig Woodson, praised for his intelligence and communication skills. Furthermore, securing impactful defensive linemen Joshua Farmer and Bradyn Swinson aims to enhance the Patriots' pass rush, which struggled last season, indicating a well-rounded approach to retooling the roster for greater competitiveness.
"I think we'll be much more competitive this year," Wolf said Saturday at the conclusion of the NFL Draft. "I don't like to put expectations on it but I think we did a lot of things this off season that were advantageous to us moving forward."
"He's a great person, a high level of character, a really smart football player," Vice President of Player Personnel Ryan Cowden said of Woodson. "I think the communication skills that he possesses at the safety position are something that sets him apart."
