"BROOKLYN, NY - A Brooklyn man accused of randomly attacking a 71-year-old with a shovel after a major snowstorm has been arrested, police said Tuesday. Police arrested 24-year-old Sean Abt on Tuesday in connection with a shovel attack that left a 71-year-old man injured in Gravesend. The assault took place on the evening of Dec. 27 near the intersection of Stryker Court and West First Street."
"Police said Abt randomly approached the victim, hit him in the face with a shovel, and then quickly fled the area. Authorities said the victim was rushed to Coney Island Hospital, where he was treated and listed in stable condition. Abt, a Gravesend resident living roughly a mile from the scene of the attack, was arrested Tuesday. Authorities said his arraignment was scheduled but had not yet taken place as of Wednesday morning."
A 24-year-old Gravesend resident, Sean Abt, was arrested in connection with a random shovel attack that injured a 71-year-old man. The assault occurred the evening of Dec. 27 near Stryker Court and West First Street following a major snowstorm. Police say Abt approached the victim, struck him in the face with a shovel, and then fled the scene. The victim was rushed to Coney Island Hospital, treated, and listed in stable condition. Abt was arrested roughly a mile from the attack site and an arraignment was scheduled but had not yet occurred as of Wednesday morning.
