Gangbanger suspected of robbing women on Lower East Side charged in shooting that wounded two NYPD sergeants: cops

Joshua Dorsett, a known gang member, faced charges of attempted murder, criminal possession of a weapon, and robbery after shooting two NYPD sergeants during a struggle at Eldridge Street.

Dorsett, affiliated with the local 'Up the Hill' gang, has a criminal record with three prior arrests, including for possession of a controlled substance. He was out on probation from a 2022 drug case.

The NYPD officers showed restraint by not firing back when Dorsett pulled out a gun during the struggle, highlighting their professionalism and adherence to protocol.
