Dimitriy Nezhinskiy and Juan Villar, owners of a pawn shop, have been implicated in fencing around $5 million in stolen items linked to a South American burglary ring. Prosecutors allege they conspired with multiple crews targeting high-profile NFL athletes such as Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes, and Travis Kelce. The FBI seized evidence from their shop and a storage unit, uncovering luxury items, including watches, jewelry, and memorabilia, worth a significant sum. Some items were directly linked to burglaries at Burrow's residence, as well as the homes of other NFL stars.
They created a marketplace that promotes the burglaries of residential homes and businesses in the United States," Assistant US Attorney Michael Maffei said in court Wednesday.
The stolen goods - about $1.5 million in value so far - are expected to be worth at least $5 million when the feds are done sorting through the evidence.
