Vets are pushing for a 'Town Center' on L.A.'s VA campus. But what is it? And will it have a hotel bar?

Building 13, a historic structure on the VA campus, is proposed to become a Town Center, yet plans for it clash with veterans’ desires for a bar.

Bobby Shriver stated, 'It became clear to me that what they wanted was a hotel bar where they could go to meet other veterans from out of town.'

The VA's master plan foresees a mixed-use facility that prioritizes supportive housing for veterans, diverging from the communal bar concept favored by many.

Support for a Town Center is strong among the veterans, highlighting a need for community engagement as the population on the campus grows significantly.
