The National Park Service impressively celebrated April Fools' Day with clever pranks, displaying resilience amidst funding challenges. Among the highlights, Zion National Park humorously claimed Angels Landing was encased in cherry-flavored gelatin, urging hikers to pack spoons. Meanwhile, Joshua Tree National Park played up local lore by reporting sightings of the mythical Yucca Man, described as tall and graceful amidst the boulders, leaving oversized footprints. These playful antics not only entertained visitors but also reinforced the parks' community spirit and commitment to engaging storytelling, brightening an otherwise uncertain atmosphere.
"We are unsure whether the gelatin fiend used a large mold or perhaps some kind of gelatin ray, but we can say confidently that it is cherry flavored," Zion National Park staff wrote.
"A few weeks ago, just after sunset, a mysterious figure was reportedly seen roaming the boulder-strewn landscape of the park," the park's report read.
