Beauty abounds in native plant garden at Miami Shores' Brockway Library
Briefly

Founding director Mary Benton believes transforming grass lawns into habitats can create sanctuaries for nature and educate the community about making positive changes.
Benton sees the Brockway Library as an ideal location for the garden, stating, "I think many people want to do something positive, but they don't know how. They need education and an example, which is what this garden provides."
The garden changed an invasive landscape into a sanctuary, alleviating water issues and preserving biodiversity, as Benton notes how it provides a vital environmental education.
Benton expresses joy over community engagement, noting, "Every passerby stops to say how beautiful it is and how happy it makes them feel."
