The 2025 Rural Broadband Subscriber Study indicates that rural internet satisfaction hinges on two main factors: connection speed and pricing. Local providers scored higher customer satisfaction (7.9) compared to national ones (7.4). Approximately 68% of rural subscribers prioritize consistent speed, while 61% emphasize fair pricing. Despite this, dissatisfaction is on the rise, with 54% of customers citing high costs as a deterrent and 48% pointing to poor speeds. The study highlights demographic variations, especially among age groups, where younger users cite pricing concerns more, while older customers are more sensitive to high costs.
For the third consecutive year, internet speed and fair pricing remain the primary contributors to customer satisfaction among rural internet users, according to the 2025 study.
Despite overall satisfaction with local providers, dissatisfaction is driven by high prices and inconsistent connection speeds, particularly among older demographics.
